Fundraising Update

03 November 2011

We have been fundraising for just over 3 weeks and the response from the community has been superb. We now have received £32,920 in donations. Please keep sending us your donations no matter how large or small. In view of this wonderful support we believe we will reach our goal and therefore we are appointing our Barrister and Consultants.

Donations Needed

22 October 2011

We require additional funds to take this fight to Appeal. The Appeal could cost up to £60,000 for a Barrister and our Consultants who will be expert witnesses. If you can afford £100 or £250 that would be great and would add to our 'Fighting Fund'. Please forward your cheque (no matter how small) payable to "Greenhill Action Group" to Graham Hey, 12-16 Victoria Street, Micklethwaite BD16 3JB or Pauline Wood, 29 Greenhill Drive, Micklethwaite BD16 3HT. Alternatively you can now donate securely online via our link to PayPal. Just click on the DONATE button on our home page.

Public Inquiry Update

22 October 2011

The revised appeal situation is that the developers have appealed the second application for 440 houses with the Planning Inspectorate together with the 2 applications for the swing bridge. The Public Inquiry is to be held in Shipley Town Hall on 21st February 2012. If you wish to lodge objections details will be posted on our FAQ page together with reasons why you should do so.

Planning REJECTED!

23 September 2011

Today the Shipley Planning Panel REJECTED the Sty Lane application by a vote of 6 to 1.

Congratulations to all of you and a really big thank you for all your support and for your donations to enable us to fight this on your behalf.

Planning Panel

01 September 2011

The Planning Panel has been provisionally booked for 10am on Friday 23rd September at Bingley Arts Centre. The seating capacity will be limited to 150.

Please put this date in your diaries as we need as many people as possible to descend on Bingley Centre, even if not everyone can get in, to demonstrate the depth of feeling there is about this development. I understand it is during the working week and if you are able to get time off work it would be appreciated.

Planning APPEAL

08 July 2011

As Bradford Council have not confirmed a Planning Hearing the developers have appealed the first application for 475 houses with the Planning Inspectorate thereby taking it out of the hands of Bradford Council. They will no doubt use this as a bargaining tool with the Council to force their hand in recommending the second application to a Planning Hearing. This means the first application will probably be heard by a Public Inquiry early in 2012.

Postponed Panel Meeting

07 July 2011

As you will now know the planning Panel Hearing has been postponed. As soon as we know the new date we will advise you. Bradford Council have sent a 6 page letter to the developer raising issues they want answered before they continue.

Meantime you can still send in objections right up to the date for the Panel. The ways in which you can do that are highlighted on our website under the FAQ page. You MUST get separate objection letters signed by each person in the household and we have prepared a ready made objection letter to help you. This can be downloaded from the DOWNLOADS section of our website. It is even better if you can write your own letter with how you believe the development will affect you and the community. Should you send an email please show your full postal address on teh email. And lastly, please ask the Planning Service to confirm receipt of your letter/email.

Planning Panel

15 June 2011

The Planning Panel has been provisionally booked for 5th July at City Hall (now POSTPONED). This date will be confirmed within the next 7 days but unfortunately I am on holiday so no further information will appear here until 29th June.

Please put this date in your diaries as we need as many people as possible to descend on City Hall to demonstrate the depth of feeling there is about this development. I understand it is during the working week and if you are able to get time off work it would be appreciated.

Meantime if you wish to write to the Chairman of the Shipley Planning Panel and the Telegraph and Argus stating your concern, distress, unease that the Council are unwilling for this meeting to be held within Bingley to support local residents and make it easier for them to attend, then please do so. The Chairman of the Shipley Planning Panel is Shabir Hussain and his email address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Public Meeting Next Steps

08 June 2011

Thank you to everyone who attended our meeting last evening 7thJune. We had a great turnout and filled the hall with over 200 people. The enthusiasm of everyone to continue to fight this application was clearly apparent and we shall do everything we can to lead this for you. However we cannot do this alone and the key messages from last night were:
  1. We need a little more money to help us finish this part of the fight (about £4000)
  2. We need you to submit objections (this is most important)

Petitions are very good but IT IS ESSENTIAL that you get as many objections sent in to the Planning Service as possible. The ways in which you can do that are highlighted on our website under the FAQ page. You MUST get objection letters signed by as many people as possible (i.e. each person in the household, family, friends, neighbours, colleagues) and we have prepared a ready made objection letter to help you. This can be downloaded from the DOWNLOADS section of our website. It is even better if you can write your own letter with how you believe the development will affect you and the community. And lastly, please ask the Planning Service to confirm receipt of your letter/email.

THIS MUST BE DONE NOW. Thank you.
